SBI Hike Debit Card Charges: Public sector banking giant State Bank of India (SBI) has increased the annual maintenance charges of various debit cards. The increased charges will come into effect from April 1.

Debit Card Charges | Mumbai, March 27: Public sector banking giant State Bank of India (SBI) has increased the annual maintenance charges of various debit cards. The increased charges will come into effect from April 1. While SBI is currently offering these types of debit cards to its customers, the latest decision has been taken to increase the charge on these by another Rs.75. Goods and Services Tax (GST) addition. According to the details on the bank’s website, the charges of Classic, Silver, Global, Contactless, Yuva, Gold, Combo, Platinum etc. debit cards are going to increase from the 1st of next month. Meanwhile, along with issuing new cards, the bank is also increasing the charges for issuing another debit card in place of the existing debit cards.

The new SBI Hike Debit Card Charges are like this..
  • Annual maintenance charges for classic, silver, global and contactless debit cards are increasing to Rs.200. GST is additional on this. At present, the bank is collecting Rs.125 and GST from the customers annually for these cards.
  • Yuva, Gold, Combo Debit Card, My Card (Image Card) charges will also increase. The current charge is Rs.175. But henceforth it will be Rs.250. GST addition.
  • The annual maintenance charge of platinum debit card will go from Rs.250 to Rs.325. GST addition.
  • The annual maintenance charge for things like Pride Premium Business Debit Cards is going to be Rs.425. GST will have to be paid on this. Currently it is Rs. 350, inclusive of GST.
On credit cards

SBI has announced on this occasion that it is removing accrual reward points on rent payments made with certain credit cards. This decision will come into effect from April 1. Also, the bank said that the accumulated reward points on rent payments made with the respective credit cards will be withdrawn. This decision will be applicable from April 15.
