RBI @90 years: RBI has now completed 89 years of its establishment and is in its 90th year. On this occasion, the Ministry of Finance unveiled a special coin of Rs 90. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, RBI Governor and others attended the event. This special coin weighing 40 grams is Rs. Made of 99.99% pure silver. The emblem of RBI and the emblem of four lions of Ashoka pillar are present in this coin.

RBI @90 years: A special Rs 90 coin has been produced to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Reserve Bank of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released this special coin in a program held today on Monday. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and others were present on the occasion. The Rs 90 coin unveiled by the Finance Ministry is made of 99.99 percent pure silver. This coin weighs 40 grams.

What are the special features of Rs 90 coin?

Made of pure silver and weighing 40 grams, this Rs 90 denomination coin bears the emblem of RBI. Below the logo is written RBI@90. Ashoka’s pillar has the emblem of four lions. Below it is Satyameva Jayate written in Devanagari script.

This Rs 90 coin is minted to commemorate a special day. It is unlikely to be available for public use. A plus for coin collectors.

History of RBI

The Reserve Bank of India came into operation on 1st April 1935. The RBI was established on the basis of the recommendations of the Hilton Young Commission during the British rule.

The Reserve Bank is responsible for establishing the reserve fund required for financial stability, issuing bank notes and coins etc. The Reserve Bank is the central bank of any country. India has RBI like Federal Reserve in America.
