Doge meme Dog Kabosu Dead: Kabosu, the popular Japanese dog who inspired the Doge meme, died on May 24. He was 19 years old. Kabosu owner Atsuko Sato announced Kabosu’s death in a blog post today. She said a farewell event would be held for Kabosu on May 26.

Atsuko adopted Kabosu of Shiba Inu breed in 2008. In the post he said, ‘Kabosu, fell into a deep sleep today 24th May at 7.50 am. Kabosu is now resting. “We will hold a farewell event for Kabo-chan on Sunday, May 26. It will be held at the Flower Kaori in Kotsu no Mori, Narita City from 1 pm to 4 pm.’

Atsuko said Kabosu was diagnosed with cholangiohepatitis and chronic lymphoma leukemia in 2022, The Sun reported.

Pictures of Shiba Inu went viral on social media in 2010 and in the last few years have been frequently circulated on the internet in the form of a meme called ‘Doge’. Also in 2013, this meme became the inspiration behind the creation of Dogecoin – which used an image of Kabosu as the cryptocurrency’s logo.

Initially, it was just a fake currency, but its popularity led to many more dog-based cryptocurrencies. Apart from this, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had also changed the logo of X (formerly Twitter) for some time last year and replaced it with the picture of Cabosu. Due to this the price of crypto started touching the sky.
