UPI PIN: Digital payments have revolutionized India. The advent of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has completely changed the payment system in the country. Currently UPI payments are being made from small shops in remote areas to malls in metro cities. Through this instant real-time payment system, users can send money from one bank to another within seconds. UPI is working as an alternative payment option to IMPS or NEFT.

Features like convenience, flexibility, security and user-friendliness have brought UPI payments closer to the masses. Just enter a four or six number pin and pay money. Users create a UPI PIN during UPI account setup. This PIN needs to be entered every time to verify a transaction from mobile payment applications. And what to do if you forget this important UPI PIN?

What is UPI PIN?

UPI PIN stands for Unified Payments Interface Personal Identification Number. A four or six digit number set by users themselves during or after UPI registration. There are many cases where users have created the UPI PIN themselves but have forgotten it. If you forget your PIN, you will not be able to access UPI accounts on platforms like Google Pay, PhonePay, Paytm. No payments or transfers can be made. But anyone can reset or change UPI PIN by following some simple steps.

How to change UPI PIN?

  • First open a mobile payment application that supports your UPI service. Then go to the profile option that appears on the home screen. Then click on the bank account option for which you want to change UPI PIN.
  • Now click on Change UPI PIN/Reset UPI PIN option. Enter the required details like ATM or Debit Card details of your bank account. After entering the card details, enter the One Time Password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Now, enter the new four or six digit UPI PIN of your choice for the selected bank account. Enter pin number again for verification. Click on Confirm option and complete the process. Bank details are not required to change UPI PIN on every platform. The details to be entered may vary depending on the platform.
