IMD Rainfall Alert: Heatwave is going on in many states of the country including North India these days. The maximum temperature continues to rise continuously for several days. The Meteorological Department has predicted heatwave to severe heatwave for the next five days in some states of East and South India. However, warnings of rain, thunderstorm and lightning have also been issued in many places in the plains and western Himalayan regions of North West India today and tomorrow. Northeast India will receive heavy to very heavy rain till May 1. This can provide some relief from the heat.

Heatwave conditions were observed in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe in the last 24 hours. At the same time, there was light to moderate rain in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Western Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh etc. Apart from this, rain fell in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Southern Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.

The weather department has forecast that Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand will experience rain between April 28-30. Thunderstorms and lightning will also occur. At the same time, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh have also been warned of rain, thunderstorm and lightning on 28 and 29 April. At the same time, rain and thunderstorm alert has been issued in some areas of Uttar Pradesh on 28 and 29 April. Apart from this, power outages may occur in many areas. A rain warning has been issued in Punjab on April 29.

As for other states, it will rain in West Madhya Pradesh on April 28, in East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh on April 28 and 29, and in Marathwada on April 28. At the same time, there is an alert of rain in Kerala and Mahe for the next five days, in Lakshadweep between April 28-29, in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam between April 28-30.

Avalanche warning in four districts of Kashmir

An avalanche warning has been issued in the upper reaches of four districts of the valley during the next 24 hours amid bad weather in the Kashmir Valley. The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) has issued this warning on Sunday. Avalanches of ‘medium danger’ level above 3,000 meters above sea level are expected in Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara districts of north Kashmir in addition to Ganderbal district of central Kashmir in the next 24 hours. People living in these areas have been advised to exercise caution and avoid venturing out in avalanche-prone areas until further notice. There has been widespread rain in the Kashmir Valley during the past few days and light snowfall has also occurred in some upper areas.
