RuPay Card Types

Classic Card: This card does not offer any insurance coverage.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) Card: Old PMJDY Card (issued before August 28, 2018): Provides coverage up to ₹1 lakh. New PMJDY Card (issued after August 28, 2018): Provides coverage up to ₹2 lakh.

Premium Card: Platinum Card: Offers coverage up to ₹2 lakh.
Select RuPay Card: Offers coverage up to ₹10 lakh.
Eligibility: If you have a card that offers insurance coverage, you are eligible for insurance benefits without paying any premium.

How to claim?

Go to the bank branch: Go to your bank branch from where you have taken the RuPay card. To make an insurance claim you will have to fill a form. Alternatively, you can opt for online by sending an email to [email protected]. Be sure to attach all the necessary documents with the email. Also, make sure to photocopy the email and courier it offline to New India Assurance.

Claim Time Limit: Claim must be filed within 90 days of the accident. In cases where the cardholder is hospitalized for a long period, the claim can be made even when he is able to do so. That means he can make a claim even after the 90 day period.

Paper Verification: Once the claim is reported, the insurance company will appoint an investigating officer within three days to investigate the case and prepare a report within 30 days. If there is any delay in submitting the paper, a reminder will be sent by New India Assurance after 60 and 81 days. Upon completion of investigation and paper verification, the claim amount is credited to the account via NEFT within 10 days.
