Date of Birth Update In EPFO : If you give Aadhaar card to update date of birth in EPFO, it will not work anymore. Earlier date of birth could be updated by attaching Aadhaar card. When you work in any company that company deposits a certain amount in EPFO according to your salary. It is also a type of investment option. Moreover, money can be withdrawn from this fund for retirement or any important work. But EPFO has issued a circular recently.
As per this circular, now Aadhaar card cannot be used to update date of birth. In fact, earlier Aadhaar card had to be attached for date of birth update, but now it is not accepted.
A circular has been issued by UIADA
The circular states that the letter has been received from the Aadhaar distribution agency i.e. UIDAI. The letter said that Aadhaar should be removed from the list of documents accepted as birth certificate. It was only after this that EPFO removed Aadhaar from the list of documents.
Any document to update date of birth
Need?
- If you want to update date of birth in EPFO, you can attach these documents for that.
- Birth Certificate
- 10th Marks List
- Passport
- PAN card
- Central and State Pension Payment Order
- Address proof
If one does not have any of the above document to update the date of birth, then he can update the date of birth through medical certificate.
Why was Aadhaar card removed?
UIDAI said that Aadhaar can be used as proof of address along with identity. However, it cannot be used as a date of birth certificate. Aadhaar number is a unique 12 digit number. This number is used as an ID-proof across the country. While making an Aadhaar card, the document given by the Aadhaar holder is used for the date of birth.
