DA Hike: Announcement will be made in the cabinet meeting today! Dearness allowance of central employees will increase by 4%

If 4 percent increase in dearness allowance of central government employees is announced today, then the dearness allowance they receive will increase to 50 percent.

Central employees and pensioners can get a big gift today. A 4% DA increase may be announced in the Union Cabinet meeting to be held today. According to sources, the central government will announce increase in dearness allowance to its employees before the announcement of general elections and Holi. Earlier in October, 2023, the Cabinet had increased DA by 4% (4% DA Hike). After this it increased to 46%. This increase is as per the approved formula based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Increase in DA based on inflation

The government takes the decision to increase DA based on the inflation rate of the country. The DA and DR increase is determined by the percentage increase in the 12-month average of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) for the financial year. Let us tell you that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced in December 2023 that her government will give a four percent increase in DA to all its employees from New Year’s Day.

So many lakh employees got benefits

Earlier, the decision to increase DA had benefited 48.67 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners. If 4 percent increase in dearness allowance of central government employees is announced today, then the dearness allowance they receive will increase to 50 percent. If this happens, there will be an increase in house rent allowance, children’s education allowance as well as transport allowance and the take-home salary of central employees will increase.

However, no official comment has been made by the government in this regard yet. Earlier Diwali bonus for Group C and non-gazetted Group B level officers including paramilitary forces was approved by the government. For 2022-2023, the Finance Ministry had set a limit of ₹7,000 for calculating non-productivity linked bonus (ad-hoc bonus) for central government employees.
