Credit Cards: Using a credit card? These safety tips are for you to avoid scams

Credit Cards: Online scams and financial frauds have increased these days. Fraudsters are cheating people every day. Bank accounts and credit card balances are emptied by knowing personal details, passwords, OTPs. Be especially careful with credit cards that are accessed online and swiped at various locations. Credit card security features are crucial in preventing financial crimes and data theft. You can shop online and offline with confidence if your credit card is protected.

Credit Card Safety

Credit card fraud is a major concern. Strong security features make it nearly impossible for fraudsters to steal card information or use it for unauthorized purchases. But the credit card contains sensitive information like name, card number, expiry date. If this information falls into the wrong hands, the data can be used for identity theft. Strong credit card security helps keep this data safe.

How to Check for Credit Card Frauds?
  • Monitor your card statements regularly. Report any unknown transactions immediately.
  • Sign up for alerts sent by the bank to know card transaction activity.
  • Shop only on trusted websites. Set strong passwords.
  • Do not click on suspicious links. Attachments in emails or texts sent by strangers can be opened. Be especially careful when asking for credit card information.
  • Use additional security features offered by the bank such as PIN or fingerprint scan.
  • If you suspect any suspicious activity on the card, report it immediately. Block the card. Be careful not to lose more.
Messages for Axis Bank customers

Several Axis Bank credit card holders complained on March 26 that there were attempts to make fraudulent international transactions on their cards. Not only that, financiy platform ‘Moneycontrol’ said that customers who have disabled international transactions have also received messages asking them to activate this feature.

Transaction declined on Axis Bank Card No. XXXXX. International online usage is disabled. Cardholders received messages saying ‘Enable the option by calling the Control Center or our Customer Service Center at Axisbank.com/CCusage.’ Many customers have shared posts on social media describing similar incidents.

Money flow with these shares.. Crores and Crores

Axis Bank President, Head of Cards and Payments Sanjeev Moghe told ‘Moneycontrol’ that the bank suspects some merchants who have been flagged unofficially by customers are behind the attempt. “We have seen some transactions that have hit our system. But they only affected some cards. We have taken measures to prevent these transactions. These are international e-commerce transactions, so there is no two-step authentication process for them,” Moghe said.
