After releasing several teasers, spy shots and a leak, Bajaj has finally launched its premium segment Pulsar NS400Z bike. Its starting price has been kept at Rs 1.85 lakh.

Powerful engine, gear and suspension

Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z has the same liquid-cooled 373cc single cylinder engine as the Dominar. It generates 40 hp power at 8,800rpm and 35 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm. Bajaj has claimed the top speed of NS400Z to be 154 kmph.

The bike also has a 6-speed gearbox setup and slip-and-assist clutch. However, unlike the larger exhaust of the Dominar 400, the Pulsar NS400Z uses the smaller NS200’s underbelly exhaust muffler.

The suspension consists of a 43 mm USD fork finished in gold and a pre-load-adjustable monoshock. 320 mm with 4-piston Grimeca axial calliper and 230 mm rear disc for powerful braking. Front disc is available. The NS400Z weighs 174 kg with its 12 liter fuel tank, making it 19 kg lighter than the Dominar. Its seat height is 805 mm, which makes it easy even for shorter riders.

Tires and lighting

Tire sizes on the NS400Z are 110/70-17 at the front and 140/70-17 at the rear. This makes the NS400Z one of only two 40hp bikes after the Yamaha R3 to run a 140-section rear tyre. The headlight of Pulsar NS400Z is quite unique in itself, which has a central LED projector headlight. There are two very sharp lightning bolt shaped DRLs on either side. The tank extensions are also quite sharp and the design of the NS400Z looks very sharp.

4 riding mode fun

Talking about ride quality, the Pulsar NS400Z gets 4 riding modes (Sport, Road, Rain Offroad), 3 levels of traction control and switchable dual-channel ABS (only in off-road riding mode). All these rider aids can be controlled through a color LCD dash, the layout of which is very similar to that of the smaller air-cooled Pulsar model.

The only difference is that it has a smaller screen on the right side, which shows navigation data and allows riders to control music playback. Apart from this, lap timer is also provided in it. The switch gear of the bike is also completely new, which includes adjustable brake and clutch levers.

Price and inaugural offer

Pulsar NS400Z has been introduced in 4 colours. Its price starts from Rs 1.85 lakh. The company has not told for how long this low price initial offer will be given. Due to its inaugural price, Pulsar NS400Z is currently offering one of the most affordable options to ride a bike with exciting performance of 40hp.

Booking and Delivery Date

Bajaj has started its online and offline booking. This bike can be booked by paying a token amount of Rs 5,000 at all Bajaj showrooms and companies’ websites. According to the information, the delivery of Pulsar NS400Z is going to start in the first week of June. All prices quoted are ex-showroom, Delhi.
