5 Days Working in Banks: The Union Finance Ministry had told during the Parliament session in December last year that a proposal has been presented in which a demand has been made to declare every Saturday as a bank holiday in all the banks of India.

Meanwhile, such discussions have intensified that the government can give a big gift to the bank employees before the implementation of the code of conduct. Employees demanding work for 5 days

No official comment has been made by the government yet on such news. But if the proposal of 5 days work in banks gets the green signal, then it will be a big gift for the employees. Last year, in December 2023, bank unions had appealed to implement 5-Day Bank Working in 180 days. Now it is being said in media reports quoting officials related to the matter, that the government may soon take a big decision on this. As of now, government and private banks are working on the first and third Saturday of the month.

Demand for hike in salary also rising

Bank unions are not only demanding five days of work from the government, but are also appealing to increase the salary of bank employees by 17 percent. If the Central Government takes a decision on these demands, then more than 15 lakh employees working in this sector will get huge benefits. It is noteworthy that in the year 2015, the government had declared the second and fourth Saturday as bank holiday in banks. Bank unions are asking to implement 5 Days’ Working in banks like LIC.

The government had given information about the proposal

The Union Finance Ministry had told during the Parliament session in December last year that a proposal has been presented and in this there has been a demand to declare every Saturday as a holiday in all the banks of India, which means that the banks will There has been a demand to work only five days every week. Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad had said that this proposal has been presented by IBA. However, he did not mention what steps the government was taking on this demand nor did he talk about when it could be implemented in the near future.

Working hours of bank employees will increase

After getting the gift of two days weekly leave for bank employees, their working hours can be increased. If 5-day working system is implemented in banks, then employees may have to work 40 minutes extra every day. That means their working hours can be from 9:45 am to 5:30 pm.
