Tomato Price: To provide relief from the skyrocketing prices, the central government is selling tomatoes online at a discounted rate of Rs 70 per kg to the consumers.
New Delhi. There is relief news for the people troubled by the rising prices of tomatoes. Now you can buy cheap tomatoes online sitting at home. In fact, the government e-commerce platform ONDC has started an initiative to provide cheap tomatoes to the people of Delhi from today (July 22). You can buy tomatoes on ONDC at the rate of just Rs 70 per kg. ONDC’s Managing Director T. Koshy gave this information.
Let us tell you that from last week Friday (July 14) tomatoes are being sold through mobile vans at different places across the country at subsidized rates. Government’s agricultural marketing agencies National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED) and National Consumer Cooperative Federation of India Limited (NCCF) are selling it.
Can’t buy more than 2 kg tomatoes
Tomatoes are being sold to people on the ONDC platform at a discounted rate by NCCF. Tomatoes will be sold by NCCF on ONDC for the next 10-15 days at Rs 70 per kg. A user can order a maximum of 2 kg tomatoes from ONDC only.
Online sale of tomato starts at Rs 70 in Delhi from July 22
Tomatoes procured by NCCF and NAFED were initially sold at Rs 90 per kg. After this, from July 16, 2023, its price was reduced to Rs 80 per kg. From July 20, it was decided to cut the price and sell it at Rs 70 per kg. Now from July 22, online sale of tomatoes has started in Delhi at the rate of Rs.70.
What is ONDC
At present, ONDC is seen challenging the e-commerce companies. Open Network for Digital Commerce i.e. ONDC started in September 2022. This is a government e-commerce platform. It provides users with food and other essential items to their homes at cheap prices. Currently there is no ONDC app. In this case, you can search ONDC by visiting an app like Paytm, MagicPin or Pincode.
