Rupees 2000 Note: Many people are facing problems in exchanging Rs 2000 notes by visiting the RBI regional office. Most people are not able to go to the regional office. For such people, the RBI has told how they can exchange Rs 2000 notes without visiting the RBI.

People can deposit their Rs 2,000 notes in their bank accounts by sending them to the designated regional office of the RBI through the post office. This is a hassle-free option for those who cannot go to the local office. Apart from this, the RBI is also offering TLR (triple lock receptacle) forms to people to deposit Rs 2,000 notes in their bank accounts.

“The RBI encourages customers to send Rs 2,000 notes to RBI through post for direct credit to their bank account in the most seamless and secure manner,” said Rohit P Das, Director, RBI Local. This will save them the trouble of queuing up at the designated branch. He said that the Delhi office alone has received about 700 TLR forms so far.

“The RBI keeps saying that you can exchange Rs 2,000 notes. On May 19, the RBI announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 banknotes from circulation. More than 97 per cent of the Rs 2,000 banknotes in circulation have returned by May 19, 2023. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said that a separate queue has been arranged for senior citizens and Divyangjans at the locker office in Delhi.

He said that a separate line has also been set up for a small number of currency note changers like someone who has only 2-3 notes. So you don’t have to wait too long. Waiting lounges have also been set up at the regional office. The RBI had given the general public time till September 30 to exchange the notes, which was later extended till October 7. Now, the general public can exchange Rs 2,000 notes at the RBI’s designated regional office.

The 19 RBI offices are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.
