Onion Price Hike: Currently, onion prices in Delhi have reached Rs 55 to Rs 60 per kg. In the wholesale market too, a rise of about eight rupees was recorded in the prices in the last three days. Same is the situation in big cities including Bengaluru.
Last few months ago tomato had almost disappeared from the kitchen. Due to increase in prices, he had ruined the kitchen budget. Now onion prices are also increasing like this. Many people do not eat onions during Shraddha and Navratri, hence buyers become less. Due to which the prices start decreasing. But this time also a rise in onion prices was seen.
Now that Navratri is over, onion prices have started increasing rapidly. Due to which questions are arising in the mind of the common man whether these prices will increase further or decrease? In the last three days alone, onion prices have recorded a jump from Rs 12 to Rs 14 per kg.
What are the prices?
Currently, onion prices in Delhi have reached from Rs 55 to Rs 60 per kg. In the wholesale market too, a rise of about eight rupees was recorded in the prices in the last three days. Same is the situation in big cities including Bengaluru.
What is the reason?
The reason behind the increase in onion prices is being said to be the decline in Kharif crops in Maharashtra due to less rainfall. In just 15 days, a big difference is visible in the wholesale prices of onion in Asia’s largest onion market located in Lasalgaon, Maharashtra. 15 days ago, the price of onion per quintal in the market was Rs 2350. Which reached Rs 3800 per quintal on Wednesday.
The government has already made the solution
Even before the month of August, onion prices were increasing due to less arrivals. Due to which the government had imposed 40 percent duty on its export in the month of August itself in order to ban its export. So that onion inflation can be controlled.
Will the price increase further?
There has been a decrease in the supply of onion from states like Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. As soon as Navratri ended, onion consumption also increased. But the supply could not increase in that proportion. Due to which a rise in prices is being seen. It is believed that in the coming one to one and a half weeks, the general public may cry due to rising onion prices. But after that the prices will be controlled.
