Connecting to Ujjwala scheme is mandatory to avail its benefits. The central government has said that more than 9 crore people have been connected under the Ujjwala scheme.
In fact, the central government announced last March that under the Ujjwala scheme, the subsidy of Rs.300 per cylinder will be increased for poor women. This subsidy was earlier till March 2024. Now it has been extended till March 31, 2025. The subsidy is directly deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
Since when are you getting subsidy?
Due to the rise in fuel prices, the central government has provided a subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder to the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme in May 2022. It has increased to Rs.300 in October 2023. This subsidy is available on 12 LPG cylinders per year. It is estimated that around 10 crore families will benefit from this move. This will cost Rs.12,000 crores.
