Indian pilot Gopi Thotakura: Gopichand Thotakura created a record as the first Telugu person to go into space. Born in Vijayawada, Gopichand Thotakura completed his Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science in America. Later he worked as a commercial jet pilot. He also piloted bush planes, aerobatic planes, seaplanes, gliders and hot air balloons. Gopichand is the co-founder of Preserve Life Corp., a wellness center in Atlanta. While several people of Indian origin have traveled to space in the past, all of them are US citizens. Gopichand is still an Indian citizen. He has an Indian passport.

Meanwhile, Blue Origin’s New Shepard hit the skies on Sunday for the first time in two years after the rocket mishap in September 2022.
