IMD Weather Update: The heat in the country is now gradually reaching its peak. PM Modi held a review meeting on Thursday amid predictions of worsening weather conditions. In this he took stock of the preparations for the heat wave situation.

The Meteorological Department has predicted severe heat this year. Seeing this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come into action. PM Modi has held a high level review meeting on the preparations being made to deal with the heat. According to the PMO, in this meeting the preparations made for essential medicines, ice packs, ORS and drinking water were reviewed. In this meeting chaired by PM Modi, Principal Secretary to PM, Home Secretary along with officials of Meteorological Department and Disaster Management Authority participated. During this period, preparations to deal with heat wave were reviewed.

It was decided in the meeting that information should be given on television, radio and social media platforms to make people aware. Special attention was paid to ensure that this information was available to the people in the local language also. The PM also gave instructions to keep adequate preparations in the hospitals.

Advice given to spread awareness to prevent heatwave

The statement from the government said that 2024 is expected to be warmer than normal and the general elections are also due during this time, hence it was felt that the advisories issued by the Health Ministry and NDMA should be translated into regional languages. and be disseminated widely. PM Modi took stock of the preparations for the heatwave situation and emphasized on the government’s holistic approach.

The PM said that all organs of the government at the central, state and district levels, as well as various ministries, need to work on this in coordination. He also stressed the need for adequate preparedness in hospitals as well as awareness generation, early detection and extinguishing of forest fires.

There will be severe heat between April and June

The Meteorological Department has predicted that this year we may have to face severe heat between April and June. Meanwhile, seven-phase general elections are starting in the country from April 19. The states where there is a possibility of heat wave include Gujarat, Central Maharashtra, North Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. It is a matter of relief that after this heat wave, monsoon will be normal and there will be good rains.
