Google launches new shopping tools, will benefit small traders in this way

Small merchants using Merchant Center or Business Profile in the U.S., including those using the Google and YouTube apps on Shopify, can add the Small Business feature to their account. For this, first you have to review the tab of Business Information in the Merchant Center. After this, you have to toggle on the Details or About Your Business or Small Business feature.

Now Google has launched a new service to lure customers on its shopping app. Google’s new service will use generative AI to instantly update images and increase the visibility of store information to attract potential new customers. In the US, Google merchants have the option to tag themselves as a small business. This feature helps shoppers identify small shops reminiscent of mom-and-pop shops.

Here’s how you can add small business features

Small merchants using Merchant Center or Business Profile in the U.S., including those using the Google and YouTube apps on Shopify, can add the Small Business feature to their account. For this, first you have to review the tab of Business Information in the Merchant Center. After this, you have to toggle on the Details or About Your Business or Small Business feature. After this, go to the option of Business Profile, go to the feature of Business Profile Edit and then go to the option of More.

How this feature works

Google said in the blog post that the “Small Business” feature will automatically give some listings based on the traffic of the website, the number of store locations and the goods sold on them. However, this can only be done if the retailer wants to do so and has the option to remove these features using the Merchant Center or Business Profile settings. The feature will also include existing deals, shipping, return policy, customer care details, ratings, and reviews. These updates are rolling out to merchants on both desktop and mobile platforms this month in several countries including the US, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, and Brazil.
