The government has now made Aadhaar card mandatory to avail its schemes. This card contains important details like full name, permanent address and date of birth. It is issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). This aadhaar card is accepted everywhere.
Usually you have seen Aadhaar cards in white color. But have you seen the blue color Aadhaar card.. Then the question arises that what is the blue Aadhaar card?
This special card is issued to children under 5 years of age in India. Its color is blue. That is why it is called Blue Aadhaar Card.
No biometrics
Children’s biometric data is not required to issue cards to children. Instead, a UID is issued based on their parents’ demographic information and facial photograph linked to the UID. When the child turns 5 and then fifteen, biometric data update for ten fingers, iris scan and facial photographs are required.
How to apply?
Parents can apply for Bal Aadhaar for newborn baby using birth certificate or hospital discharge slip as valid enrollment documents.
How to Apply for Child Aadhaar Card
- Open UIDAI website uidai.gov.in.
- After this select Aadhaar Card Enrollment
- Enter the child’s name, parent’s phone number and other required information
- Select the appointment slot for Blue Aadhaar Card Enrollment.
- Make an appointment at the nearest enrollment center
- Visit the enrollment center with your child, taking the necessary documents including your Aadhaar card, proof of address and child’s birth certificate.
- Provide your Aadhaar details to be linked with the child’s UID. Only a photograph of the child is required. Biometric data is not required.
- Once the process is complete you will receive a message on your registered mobile number.
