The Finance Minister said that the Central Government has taken initiatives like operating TeleManas helpline, which provides mental well-being counseling and also recommends patients for treatment with experts in the field.

Ayushman Bharat: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday that mental well-being is included in the scope of Ayushman Bharat scheme. Addressing students and faculty members of BHU (IIT-BHU) at the inauguration of the Mental Well-being Week in Varanasi, the Finance Minister said that the Central Government has taken initiatives like operating Tele Manas Helpline, which provides mental well-being counselling. And also recommends patients for treatment with experts in this field.

Sitharaman said that post Covid counseling facilities have also been provided to the students to save them from all kinds of stress. Noting that stress among students mainly comes from frenzied competition and pressure of public opinion, the Finance Minister said counseling facilities are being provided at the district level also, as the Center takes the mental health of students very seriously. . Sitharaman explained how the government’s focus on yoga is part of a holistic approach to addressing mental well-being.

Government provides free treatment

Ayushman Bharat Yojana is also known as PM Jan Arogya Yojana. In this, free treatment facility up to Rs 5 lakh is available. The government pays the cost of medicines, treatment etc. Ayushman card is made for the people eligible for this scheme. After this the cardholder can get his treatment free of cost in the listed hospitals.
