DA Hike Update: About one crore employees and pensioners of the country will benefit from the increase in dearness allowance by the Central Government. These include 47.58 lakh central employees and about 69.76 lakh pensioners.
This time Diwali can be even more bright for the central employees and on this festival of lights, they can see a huge increase in their salary. In fact, it is expected that the Central Government may gift an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA Hike) to its employees. Earlier it was expected to be announced by Dussehra, but now according to the updates being received through reports, the government can give a big gift to the central employees on Diwali. This time DA can be increased by 4 percent.
Dearness allowance will increase to 46%!
If Narendra Modi government (Narendra Modi Govt) increases the dearness allowance of central employees by 4 percent (4% DA Hike), then it will increase from the present 42 percent to 46 percent. With the increase in DA, there will be a jump in the salary of the employees as well. However, till now no statement or comment has come from the government regarding the increase in DA of the employees. But according to media reports, the employees have full hope that this Diwali the government can announce the second DA hike.
DA is amended twice a year
It is noteworthy that the government revises the dearness allowance given to central employees twice a year. The benefits of which are given to them from 1st January and 1st July. For the year 2023, the government had made the first amendment and announced DA Hike on March 24, 2023 and after this, the benefit of increased dearness allowance is being available to the employees and pensioners from January 1, 2023. Then the Center had increased the 38 percent DA given to the employees by 4 percent to 42 percent. Now if the government increases the dearness allowance on Diwali, then its benefits will be given to the employees from July 1, 2023.
Decision is taken on the basis of inflation
Employees are continuously demanding 4 percent DA hike and media reports are also expecting a 3-4 percent increase in dearness allowance. DA is an important part of the employees’ salary and the increase in it has a direct impact on the salary received by the employees. But do you know how it is determined? So let us tell you that considering the inflation rate, the government decides to increase the DA of the employees. The higher the inflation, the higher the increase in DA of employees is expected.
For this, CPI-IW data is considered as the standard. In July 2023, CPI-IW had increased by 3.3 points to 139.7. If compared with the same period a year ago, it was about 0.90 percent more. Earlier in June 2023 it was 136.4 and in the month of May it was 134.7. However, if we talk about August, a decline of 0.5 percent has been recorded and it has come down to 139.2 percent. However, it is still much higher than the month of May-June. In such a situation, it is also possible that instead of 4, the government may give 3 percent hike, that is, dearness allowance will increase from 42 to 45 percent.
Understand the calculation of salary and DA like this
If the government increases the DA of central employees by 3 percent, then the dearness allowance of an employee getting a basic pay of Rs 18,000 will increase from Rs 7,560 to Rs 8,100. That means, there will be a direct increase of Rs 540 in his salary. If we look at it on the basis of 4 percent increase, then dearness allowance will be Rs 8,280 and salary will increase by Rs 690. If we calculate it on the basis of maximum basic pay, then DA on Rs 56,900 at the rate of 45 percent will be Rs 25,605 instead of Rs 23,898. Whereas, according to 46 percent, it will become Rs 27,554.
